Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach

Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach had Telemann as a godfather, Johann Sebastian Bach as his father, and in his time was recognized as the greatest harpsichordist alive. He was also respected as a composer -- arguably one of the most successful Bach boys after dear old Dad.
He composed a total of 25 trio sonatas, and one of his earliest compositions was a trio sonata he put together with his father. He worked in the court of Frederick the Great for nearly 30 years, even though Johann Quantz was the official court composer. But in 1768, he gave up that job and moved to Hamburg to become the musical director of the city's five principal churches.
