WGUC is My Source For...

We know WGUC is important to you and invite you to share your experience with other WGUC listeners. Please take a moment to think about how you would finish this sentence: "WGUC is my source for ..." Be as personal and creative as you would like. We’d love to hear from you.

How has WGUC made a difference in your life?
Do you recall a special listening experience?
Why do you tune to WGUC every day?

Here's what some WGUC listeners had to say:

My Source
Listen

WGUC is My Source for daily comfort. WGUC is my home on the radio. It’s programmed into all my radios. When I am at home and when I’m stressed out or when I’m tired, if I stop and just listen, I’ll hear it somewhere in the house and inevitably I’m drawn to it. It’s not uncommon for me to stop what I’m doing and go into another room and turn up the radio so I can hear it more clearly and then go back to what I’m doing.

I keep a radio in my garage on all the time. One of those evenings when I had long day and I was getting home quite late and I pulled into the garage and there is one of my favorite pieces, which is Haydn’s horn concerto, and I just relax. It’s just such a wonderful feeling. It’s coming home.

WGUC is My Source for hypertension control. My job is a very hectic one. There’s a lot of stress in my day and I purposefully have WGUC one in my office as a way of controlling my hypertension. There’s something about classical music that allows you to just gain control of all the stressful things going on in your day and so WGUC really helps me get through the day.

WGUC is My Source for discovering Cincinnati. On my first trip into Cincinnati, I tuned in to WGUC. I was driving north on 71/75, down the cut in the hill, and John Rutter's "The Lord is My Shepherd" was playing. As the music crescendoed on "I will dwell in the HOUSE of the Lord," the view of a full moon over downtown Cincinnati opened before me. It was love at first sight (and sound!).

WGUC is My Source for enabling the community…

WGUC listener Tony Fairhead is committed to the community. A little over a year ago, Tony and a group of volunteers started Childhood Food Solutions, Inc a non-profit aimed at reducing the number of hungry children throughout the community. This past year, Tony and CFS focused their efforts on zip code 45225— an area where many families live below the poverty line—and donated thousands of sacks of food to students at Taylor Academy and Roll Hill School.

Recently, Tony looked to increasing CFS’s visibility by visiting the The Fay Apartments and distributing the sacks directly to the children. When his group of volunteers showed up, they had a bit of trouble getting the children to come to them. Undeterred, Tony and his group started playing their car radio—which was tuned to WGUC— as loud as it could go.

“There we were, WGUC blaring out, and the kids are saying: ‘What’s that sound; never heard that sound before.’” The newly interested children came out to see what the fuss was about, and Tony and his group were able to distribute over 400 sacks of food to the children in the single afternoon. “WGUC enabled us to distribute the food, and in the process the children are getting a whole new kind of culture as well.”

WGUC is My Source for daily companionship. I think the station is very important to the city and its image and it's certainly very important to me. It's like one of the diamonds in Cincinnati's tiara and Hope it stays on forever. It's about the only station I tune into daily..the only others are WVXU occasionally and Lite 99.9 from Dayton. My dogs even like it; they choose the room to sleep in in which WGUC is playing on the radio, as opposed to a room with any other station or the TV.

WGUC is My Source for calm in a complicated world in cubicle city. The busier or more hectic my day, the more I find I need the soothing sounds barely audible to anyone but me.

WGUC is My Source for education. When my son took up viola in third grade my knowledge of music was limited. Now, thanks to Mrs. Herndon-Denny, Miss Yelton, and Miss Keighly he plays with the Baldwin Wallace College Symphony. And thanks to WGUC I have some knowledge and appreciation of music.

WGUC is My Source for classical and jazz offerings on HD.

I've been curious about HD radio for some time & yesterday heard a sample at Best Buy. I bought the receiver on impulse and then stayed up half the night mezmerized by the classical & jazz offerings at the WGUG HD frequency. WOW! Forget satellite radio -- this is where I'm going to put my money!! You weren't kidding when you said the sound is CD quality. It's a whole new level -- more people need to be exposed to this medium.

WGUC is my constant companion and surrounds me day & night. I know you hear this all the time during fund raisers -- but I'm another person who has every radio in my house, cars & office tuned to 90.9 FM. The music is always on. I've had plumbers, exterminators and delivery drivers comment on soothing it is. And I always tell them that the wonderful music is coming from a radio station, not a CD, and that they should be listening too. I couldn't live without it.........THANK YOU!!

WGUC is My Source for relaxation. I have WGUC on throughout my workday as a psychotherapist. I find it helps to relax the tension, anxiety and depression of some of my clients. I recommend it to friends, family members and clients. It is on both of my cars and both stereos in my home. I smile when I enter a business or wait on a phone and I recognize the channel.

WGUC is My Source for peace, calm and serenity. WGUC is my constant musical companion all day long. The programming is such that I rarely resort to a CD. Sometimes I lie awake, unable to sleep at night. WGUC plays softly in the background -- it helps me to achieve peace, calm serenity -- and sleep.

WGUC is My Source for great classical music!!

I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Georgia/Tennessee line. We don't get much of that here in the mountains!! I am a former Buckeye, born and raised in Chillicothe and lived and worked for some years in Dayton. Also had one of my branch sales offices in Blue Ash when I worked for an international company and visited there frequently. Commercial radio used to be a good source for music but, alas, no more. We subscribe to xmradio and listen on-line sometimes but our preferred listening is on WGUC over the Internet. I also enjoy hearing the Cincinnati weather and the morning traffic information. Our only traffic tie-ups occur when an old pickup runs into a mule on the road or a similar occurrence!! We know Cincinnati as home of the Reds, Cincinnati chili and.... WGUC!!! Thanks!

WGUC is My Source for Weekend Morning Classics from shows like "From the Top" and "Sunday Morning Baroque." From the Top affirms that the youth of today are talented beyond expectations, and have excellent senses of humor as well.

WGUC is My Source for peace and serenity. Ever since I discovered WGUC, when I moved to CVG in 2003,the dial on my radio at home and in my car is never touched. Thank you for giving us, the public, a station that delivers superb music and programmes.
