WQXR’s Young Artist Showcase February 5th at 9:10pm: This week’s show is part of WQXR’s China in New York Festival - a visit with 3 young Chinese artists: Tenor Yi Li grew up in the Chengdu province and studied at Sichuan Conservatory of Music in China. To celebrate the Year of the Dragon, Yi Li shares some of his favourite Chinese folk songs, including Under the Silver Moonlight and Love Song from the Grassland. Fourteen-year-old Zhu Wang was the winner – and the youngest of the six finalists – in the inaugural Hilton Head International Piano Competition last year. And as a bonus, more Chopin from pianist Chu-Fang Huang – the first movement of Sonata No. 2 from Chu-Fang’s performance at last year’s Avery Fisher Career Grant awards. |
