An early form of photography, daguerreotypes are exquisitely detailed, one-of-a-kind images created on a mirror-like silver surface. Dozens of daguerreotype studios made Cincinnati their home in the mid-19th century. This exhibition features a small selection of Cincinnati-related daguerreotypes from local and regional collections.

The Rookwood Pottery Co., in collaboration with artists from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning, will unveil two art installations at the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC), Cincinnati, and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), New York. The identical installations – intricately designed fireplaces of Rookwood tile – were handcrafted by the artists over 12 months and are available for purchase. One of the fireplaces will be part of the CAC’s “The Living Room” exhibit. The other will be at the 25th Annual ICFF show, a global exhibit of contemporary design.
