Hailed by the New Yorker magazine as "America's favorite choral ensemble" the Grammy® Award- winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer returns to the cathedral for the season opener Wondrous Free featuring Chanticleer's lush signature sound in a program demonstrating the diversity of song in America in the context of song throughout the world.

The concert will include a special recognition of musical achievement for Chanticleer: an induction into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame.

An Organ Spectacular

In observance of the International Year of the Organ, Blake Callahan, associate Cathedral Organist
will present a solo organ concert featuring works of J. S. Bach, Cesar Franck, Charles-Marie Widor, Louis Vierne and others.

Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir & Orchestra
November 11, 2008

The 2007 GRAMMY® Award-winning vocal ensemble of Estonia makes its Cincinnati debut appearance at the cathedral. The Chamber Choir with the Tallin Chamber Orchestra led by Tönu Kaljuste will present a program of music by Arvo Pärt, Erkki-Sven Tüür and Antonio Vivaldi.

Advent Lessons & Carols

The Annual Advent Carol service sung by the Choir of Saint Peter in Chains Cathedral featuring seasonal choral music with the "O Antiphon" chants and handbells to mark the beginning of the Advent season.

Warm your holiday spirits with an Old Fashioned Christmas led by VAE Founding Director, Elmer Thomas. The central piece of the concert will be Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols. Works of Spanish and Dutch Renaissance asters feature Victoria's O Magnum mysterium and Sweelink's Hodie Christus natus est, and Romantic works feature Bruckner's Ave Maria and Holst's Lullay my Liking. New carols from the USA offer works of David Conte, Stephen Paulus and Alice Parker.

One of the best-attended events of the year, the Ancient Office of Tenebrae features
Gregorian chants and sublime choral music of Holy Week including the Lamentations of Jeremiah and Allegri's Miserere sung by the Cathedral Choir.
